The root meaning of the Greek, Latin and English words arch, arc, ark, is the Sanskrit word arch. This arch gives rise to the archa vigraha or Divine Form, otherwise known as the deity form of the Transcendental Being. By adding nam the word becomes Archanam which means to worship the eternal forms of the Parama Purushas or Supreme Persons. In Greek the same word became arkhe which means – a beginning.read more
In 1974, forty years ago, a huge tsunami was flooding across our planet. But this was not waves of water that drown you and wash your home away. Those waves started out in India, spreading East and West until they encompassed the whole planet. What washed ashore, first in New York and San Francisco, and then spreading everywhere, were the healing waters of ancient Yogic wisdom that had sustained and fed the Orient for over 10,000 years.read more

2017 Astrological update for…the Slow Dance of the Planet Shani or Saturn
Today, Jan 26, 2017 Shani changed from the sign of Scorpio, which it entered Nov 2, 2014 and entered the sign of Sagittarius. If you were born with you moon in Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn in your Vedic birth chart, this change will be particularly life changing for you.
So how does this affect me you ask? The answer is: Your big plans or material projects that appear to be moving forward may stop in their tracks or even turn around for no apparent reason. The often-hidden reason is the movement and placement of Saturn as it moves through your birth horoscope.
The planet Saturn is the slowest of all the visible planets in our solar system. For that reason, Shani is equated with time, because time is invisible but is slowly changing everything. There is an ancient Vedic saying: “Time is very subtle, it enters into everything; it alone is awake while all others sleep”. Because Shani moves so slowly, most humans are too busy to notice the subtle but relentless changes that coincide with the slow changes of this dark and distant planet — the planet of the inevitability or destiny.
Like all planets (except for the Sun and Moon) Shani moves through the 12 signs of the Zodiac with two kinds of motion: forward or direct, and backward or retrograde. But for this slow mover it takes 2½ years to go through one sign and almost 30 years to transit all of the 12 signs. For us this means Shani moves slowly forward in a sign for some time; then stops for a moment and goes backward in that sign; then stops again and moves forward in the same sign. This may happen several times in the 2 ½ years it takes the planet to cross one sign.
Saturn crossing ones Moon is the most dramatic and life-altering transit in Astrological understanding. The changes of Saturn are significant for all but vastly more so when it crosses ones Moon sign. During 2017 Shani will make three more dramatic changes of direction. On April 5th, it will enter Rx or backward motion in Sagittarius until June 20th when it will re-enter Scorpio moving in reverse. Then on August 25 it will stop and begin moving forward into Scorpio. Finally, it will re-enter Sagittarius on October 26, 2017 and will not return to the sign Scorpio until it completes another 30-year revolution of the Sun.
When Shani changes direction or sign, you should assume that for three days, material circumstances will be destabilized and especially for those whose Moon it is crossing. Remember the planets are both around us and within us. As above, so below. Thus, a wise human watches the planetary motions to understand the invisible effects of the many planetary hands of the Universal Clock. If your Vedic Moon is in Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius or Capricorn, it is an excellent time to have your chart updated. And remember, the inevitable can be turned to our advantage if we see it coming.
