I want to let you know how impressed I am with the Men's level 2 classes. Last night so many pieces fell into place for me. Until now, having previously read "The Multi Orgasmic Male", I felt like I didn't have the information in a "user-friendly" form. I had been feeling like maybe I wasn't evolved enough or conscious enough, or even capable. The Steven Chang book puts the information in a much more accessible form, and the way Jeffrey presents the information with the added Vedic/yogic context feels very "user friendly". I'm also really impressed with the courage of the men in the class, who, to varying degrees, are coming to terms with long-standing fears. What a wonderfully supportive setting and group in which to explore these issues! For me, the fear that often comes up in my life is fear of being found inadequate, and last night I started to see how I can create a new self-image energetically. Dear Jeffrey: I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how much I enjoyed your weekend seminar "AyurVedic Astrology" . As a relative newcomer to Eastern thought and practice I found your presentation both comprehensive and engaging . I particularly appreciated how you undergirded the seminar at the start with description of the foundational heritage of the material for this really helped to give the entire weekend both context and integrity. Indeed, the breadth of the knowledge needed to integrate and then convey this type of information is obviously very vast and you were able to convey the essence of the information in a most interesting way. When I decided to take this seminar I was hoping that the material would give a good base on which to embark study on the subjects: Vedic Astrology and Ayurveda, particularly in regard to using them eventually in intuitive healing arts. Not only did the course achieve this, but in addition as a by-product, I learned a considerable amount about myself by the integration of these two subjects. It is true that my further studies will take a lot time and energy, but even if I had decided not to pursue further study, the foundational information that you have provided has given me a new depth of understanding of the "human condition". I would like to highly recommend Jeffrey Armstrong as an Astrologer, and Counselor, and Teacher. We both share a common interest in the pursuit of truth wherever we may find it, particularly in the spiritual Vedic traditions of India. As such, some people, myself included have even used the term "Renaissance Man" to describe you, not undeservedly. What never ceases to amaze and fascinate me about you is the depth and breadth of knowledge and practical command you, as a Westerner, have achieved in such esoteric fields. Not only that, but you have emerged as a highly popular and successful teacher and lecturer in those fields and you have counseled so many people, including my family and me, with your most insightful astrological readings. Dear Jeffrey:  There are no words to describe the gratitude I feel towards Jeffrey and the way he has helped me and my family, and most of all my newborn baby. Let me begin by saying that I have always believed in astrology and have consulted numerous so-called astrologers over the years. They all know how astrology works but, after meeting Jeffrey, I have realized, that none of them understand how to use astrology in a positive way to better oneself and help others do the same. Only by understanding how something works can one use it to benefit themselves as well as others. Others do not have this understanding but Jeffrey does. I came to Jeffrey during one of the most stressful times of my life. I was 5 months pregnant and had been told, by a so-called astrologer, that the baby I was carrying may not make it to term but if he did, then he may not be normal. A mother's one and only concern is that her baby be normal, so you can imagine my extreme distress and feeling of helplessness. What could be worse that having anything other than a normal baby? The stress and anxiety I was feeling was too much and that itself was affecting my baby. I was an emotional wreck. Jeffrey explained what was happening in my chart and how certain planets were affecting me at the time. I was going through one of the worst phases of my life "sadh sati" I had very little idea of what it was and what it meant for me. He not only explained to me what it was but how I can help myself and my baby from its affects. Although it was a very trying time for me, Jeffrey helped me understand the positive aspects of the period called "Sade sati" and how to use it to change myself and my life for the better. This helped relieve some of my tension and anxiety. Jeffrey counseled me throughout the term of my pregnancy, I don't know how I would have made it without him. He helped me remain confident and positive and keep my mind focused on God - the only One and Only. Since it was a planned c-section Jeffrey helped pick a date that was best for the me and the baby. He put a lot of time and effort into finding the best day, as it would affect my baby for rest of his life. The date was October 26, 1998. Now all we had to do was pray that I did not go into labour before then. I didn't. I went into the hospital and underwent a c-section to deliver a healthy and normal, 9 lb 1 oz baby boy! Jeffrey did the birth chart for my son based on his date and time of birth. He gave me an idea of what my baby will be like and even was kind enough to help us pick a name. The gift of kindness, love, and support Jeffrey has provided to me as a mother will never be forgotten. My son will be made aware of an angel named Jeffrey who took us under his wing to protect us during the most crucial time of my life and helped me bring a new life into this world. Dear Jeffrey, Remember me? I finally got around to writing the story of my experience with your reading of my chart, (enough prepositions in there?). Sorry about the delay! What was it, months? Years? Thanks again! "You've taken your first step into a larger world. " -- Obi-Wan Kenobi. To this day, trained specialists are trying to determine the long-term effects of growing up in Santa Cruz, California in the 1970s. We had everything from a refugee from the '60s named A. Blinken who lived in the ramshackle duck shed in our backyard to a goat named Ishlan (I think it's Sanskrit for "pummels helpless kids with forehead of iron") who once broke open the front door, muscled her way into a crate of apples, and took a single bite out of each one. So when my mom told me she'd asked a Vedic astrologer named Indra to read my chart, it went in one ear and out the other. I was eleven years old. She came home from the reading with two pink Radio Shack cassette tapes which spent the next few years floating around from this drawer to that. (Why would my mom take the trouble to scry my destiny, but not make a single safety copy of the evidence?) I even listened to them a couple times—I remember being embarrassed and secretly delighted when the warm, liquid voice on the tape said, "He'll have to beat the women off with a stick"—but I really didn't pay much attention. Despite mom's New Age leanings (and if she was leaning any more, she'd fall over), I emerged from my childhood spirituality-free. My take was that people cling to the spiritual—to religion, to faith, to ritual, to superstition, whatever—because it feels good. The profound strength of science, of course, lies in the ability to remain open to what the universe has to say, instead of conforming the universe to your preconceived ideals. Although I didn't really understand the importance of my feelings at the time, my search for Truth was underway. Meanwhile, high school and college saw me consumed by depression. I felt alone and different—unlovable. I began to write songs. Music saved my life. There's a song by The Chameleons called Soul in Isolation that became one of my favorites. "When you think on it we're all souls in isolation / I'm alive in here / Turn on the light!" Just writing those words makes me feel sad. By this point I'd confiscated the astrological tapes from mom (they were safer with me, I reasoned). It was fun to listen to them from time to time and fantasize about fame, fortune, and sex (because despite what the tape said, I sure wasn't getting any!). But my rational side would always say, "Come on! How could Planet X in House Y have any bearing on me and my life? It makes no sense." But something was undeniably resonating. The voice on the tape was describing me, the secret me that no one in the world could possibly know—my physical body, my unique strengths, my abject weaknesses, my deepest emotions, and on and on. I mean, I was eleven years old when the reading was done! The way I felt was so inexpressible, and yet here was a concise statement coming into my consciousness as revealing as my blood spilling onto a page and forming the story of my life. It was an external validation of who I was and who I could be. It was all right to feel the way I did. I was myself. Reconciling this feeling of rightness with my natural skepticism would have to wait. Hope, self-assurance, and yes, even faith—in my time of need I received these gifts with thanks. Fast-forward to 1996. My girlfriend and I had moved to Mendocino, California and sometimes found it necessary to make the winding, three-hour drive down to San Francisco. Those drives were the perfect occasion to listen to my astrological tapes and ponder the obvious question: If Indra Armstrong can calculate a chart of planetary positions based solely on the time and place of my birth and from that chart accurately predict who I am and who I will be as a human being, what does that do to my beliefs about the universe? It blows them wide open. These days I find myself thinking about order, purpose, cycles, destiny, free will, love, divinity... I bought a Vedic Astrology software program along with a number of books so that I could calculate and study charts on my own. When I'm reading Les Miserables I empathize with Jean Valjean as he struggles against his own weakness to be closer to God. When I'm watching a show on PBS about the Big Bang I reflect that Brahma is said to blow bubbles that become universes. Despite my interest in Vedic Astrology, I have no particular religious attachment or preference. I simply hope to use it as a tool to go higher. I'm on my way, but I'm in no hurry. I find myself drawn to commonalties in the human experience, basic truths. My deep love for science and critical thinking is as strong as ever, but where the universe once appeared to consist only of chaotic Force, I'm starting to perceive Melody. Dear Jeffrey, Sorry for my delay in responding. It's been quite hectic here at work and I wanted to give you a thoughtful response. I really enjoyed my reading with Jeffrey. I have been feeling so poorly that I guess I focused on those things more than long range plans. Hopefully once I can get my system more balanced I can get additional readings, so far, I have not had the energy for the martial arts Jeffrey suggested. I am walking daily and doing yoga twice a week but that's about it for exercise lately. The tape and Ganesha arrived safely even though the envelope was slashed open when it was delivered. It must have caught on the something in the post office or something. Anyway, I have them and have put them on my prosperity table in the living room. I was so excited with this whole system of balance idea that I also went to an Auyer-Vedic doctor. I found one associated with the TM center here. She wanted to look at my astrological chart , so on my follow-up visit in May I will bring it in to show her and maybe she can fine tune these herbs with Jeffrey's great chart. She prescribed several herbal elixirs, Vata tea, Vata churna and a diet to help alleviate more of the symptoms I've been experiencing. I am shocked at how potent and helpful these herbs are. when I really follow everything she says and do everything Jeffrey says like eating ginger and chanting mantras I feel like a different person. My depression and rage have lifted already. Hopefully the extra weight will start to fall off soon and I will be freer to do martial arts. Are there any ones more suitable for an overweight person? I am looking forward to meeting you both in person at one of your seminars. I hope you will keep me on your mailing list. This doctor seemed like a good next step and hope that You agree. She may help us organize a seminar in LA as well. I'll keep you posted on my progress toward balancing. Thank you so much for following up with me this way. Dear Jeffrey, It has been a little over four months now since I had my reading with you, and some wonderful things have happened since that I'd like to tell you about. It's funny how the minute we make a decision to alter the way we interact with people and life, life itself shifts and new opportunities present themselves. I made that kind of decision in a training and development weekend just prior to our meeting. I had noticed that in my impatience, I very seldom was able to "be with" things or people just the way they were; I was always waiting for them to change, get better, or become some way I thought they should be. Having set out that weekend to achieve an experience of something other than that, I did so, and began to see people and things as a compilation of my opinions about them, which in turn gave me more freedom to see them as they were. That breakthrough happened after simply having committed to seeing you for a reading, ..being willing to see things as they were through a lens other than my own - namely that of Aryuveda and the astrological paradigm you present. That alone gave me a great deal of freedom to express my natural affinity for people. The most valuable part of the reading itself was identifying my temperament and personality traits as a function of the physical, rather than some random mixture of past experiences, which is how I think many of us relate to who we are. When I began interacting with who I am, (as something physical and energetically, as much spiritual, soul, and experience) I started paying more attention to my body, relieved that I now had somewhere to focus my attention to remedy the things that weren't working for me. Specifically, the following has also resulted from our reading: - You advised me to see a physician in the Chinese or Ayurvedic paradigms of medicine for my ailments, and your reading gave me the confidence to do so. I am now almost completely cured of the dry skin and eczema that ailed me, and am now embarking on a rigorous sports nutrition regime to further my training efforts in dance. - I now have a much better sense of when my body is not balanced, and what to do about the stress that results. - I have a greater faith in the decisions I make, and more trust of me, knowing that the consequences will ultimately be what is good for me and people around me. This has allowed me more freedom than ever to pursue things I've dreamed of doing (like dancing and writing music), without worrying about how they are going to turn out. - Finally and very simply, you gave me one thing I need to do to assure my success. The minute you spoke it, I knew it was true, and began to implement it immediately. I am still doing so today, and it is working.
